How Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps Work
Liquid ring vacuum pumps operate on a simple yet highly effective principle. The impeller is mounted eccentrically within the pump casing. When it rotates at the required speed and sealing liquid is introduced into the chamber, a liquid ring is formed along the inner wall of the casing.
As the impeller continues to rotate:
- Chambers are created between the impeller blades and the liquid ring
- Gas enters through the suction port and fills these chambers
- Due to the eccentric design, the chamber size reduces, compressing the gas
- Once the chamber reaches the discharge port, the compressed gas is expelled along with a portion of the sealing liquid, which helps dissipate heat
This process ensures smooth, continuous, and efficient operation.
